Building with brick is generally cheaper and simpler than most other construction methods. And even when it appears more costly upfront, the long-term sustainability of brick makes it the better option in many scenarios.

I am also experienced in stone masonry, but unless a homeowner already has stone on their property, I usually talk people out of building with stone as it is a very expensive and slow material to build with when compared to brick and block. If someone still wants the look of stone, this can be achieved using an ancient technique of faux plastering. I can texture a coat of sand and cement render to appear like stonework, and this will be far cheaper and faster than actually building with genuine stone.

There are so many artistic possibilities with plaster/stucco, that I recommend most brick and block walls to be plastered over and sealed from the weather.

As most homes in the Salem, Oregon area are not built with brick or block, I am usually called out to repair or build small to medium-sized retaining walls, as well as decorative walls around yards and gardens. I also build outdoor chimneys, pizza ovens, and steps going up hills.

The possibilities of bricks and mortar are numerous, and the low cost of many projects may surprise you. Think of how your land can be improved with bricks and contact me for some bids. Let’s make your dreams a reality!
